Our good friends Torren and Drew perfectly embody our simplification of things and have been fantastic Guinea pigs as we developed and honed our wears. Over the past 12 months both their desire to travel and explore has meant they have been able to offer feedback and help us tailor and refine what we do across all lines, including our board short collection, one of our most popular lines- enjoy below, some of their memories from the past 12 months.

Drew Mcherson hails from Newcastle and after a young and successful period as a competitive surfer (winning the Newcastle Pro Junior), Drew is now a little less about the hustle and bustle of making heats, and more about experiencing different boards and techniques, not feeling like he is boxed into a particular mould, after all isn't that what surfing is all about?

Either in his Van or journeying to perfect reefs Drew really embraces his ability to enjoy different boards and waves; riding McTavish Single fins in perfect Indo (as above) or garage sale 1980 thrusters in NSW beachies, as seen below.

Torren resides in Byron NSW and his fascination with travel and open-mindedness is an inspiration and a perfect reflection of needessentials. In the below “Sea Legs” edit he, Iska, Shane Fletcher and Tyler Warren travelled to Fiji in the hunt for perfect lefts and epic visions. Travelling with just his board shorts, neo tops and a quiver of Twinnies from 5’4” to 6’6”, Torren and Tyler gracefully negotiated the combination of low tides and building swell, proving that you can have equal amounts of fun on fewer fins.
